Brondesbury Park & Brondesbury

This neighbourhood is known as Brondesbury or Brondesbury Park, and is located in the northwest London Borough of Brent. The property in this area mainly consists of smaller Victorian terraced houses with a number of modern flat developments. It is a popular spot for families and young professionals. The neighbourhood has a good number of green spaces and parks in its surrounding area. It also has many entertainment options for adults, including the Tricycle Theatre which shows the latest movies, but also hosts talks with directors and actors. The neighbourhood also boasts numerous restaurants and bars, like Small and Beautiful, a popular Italian restaurant. This neighbourhood is an excellent location for those who want a break from the craziness of central London but still need to commute in throughout the week.

The locality got its name from a moated manor house that was built in the area in the early 1500s. During the 1860s, the neighbourhood developed rapidly due to the arrival of the Hampstead Junction Railway. By the 1890s, the district had been almost entirely built up with high-class housing and had gained a significant Jewish community, for whom a synagogue was built. However, during the early 1900s, many of the impractically large properties were replaced by more affordable houses, or subdivided into flats. The manor house, from which this neighbourhood derives its name, was sadly demolished in 1934.

The Gaumont State Theatre was one of the biggest auditoriums in Europe when it opened in 1937, with seating for 4,000 people. Although it is no longer functional today, it has been listed as a Grade II building and can still be admired from the street.

Theft is by far the highest reported crime in the area. However, the neighbourhood’s overall crime rate of 2.17% is relatively low compared to the rest of London.

In 2022, Brent Council began consultations for the potential development of a site in Clement Close, with the aim of delivering 22 family homes and shared green space. Another development in the area is Queen’s Park Residences, near Brondesbury Park Station, which provides a collection of three houses (two 4-bedroom houses and one 3-bedroom house) and six 2-bedroom apartments. A third example of development in the area is The Royal Majestic Apartments, a collection of 16 one, two and three bedroom properties built by Gage Properties.
