Woodlands & Syon Park

This neighbourhood area is predominately located in the London Borough of Hounslow, South West London. It sits North East of Isleworth, East of Woodlands and North West of Richmond. Considering Isleworth is not in central London, this area is relatively well connected with Twickenham Rd (the A316) to its South and the M4 to its immediate North. The area also has several train stations in less than a 4 mile radius, such as Hounslow East Station, Syon Lane, Isleworth or Richmond Station. Hounslow closely neighbours the boroughs of Richmond, Ealing and Hillingdon, Hammersmith and Fulham and Spelthorne – which are notoriously known to be some of London’s most sought after residential areas to live in. Isleworth’s residents are fortunate to be surrounded by natural amenities close by such as Syon Park or the internationally renowned Kew Gardens.

Isleworth was formally known as Gislheresuuyrth in 677, which is Anglo-Saxon to mean ‘the enclosed settlement of a man called Gīslehere’- the area’s name was later changed to Isleworth. As the monasteries began to be closed down, more land became available for private ownership increased. This led to the proliferation of residential developments for the wealthy. One such wealthy resident was British aristocrat Lord Grey of Warke who owned a house on Swan Street in 1635. The village was further established by the mid 17th century, yet currently, there are no remains of this. The All Saints Church is an ancient Church dating to at least 1290. By the 17th century, the Church was refurbished to expand its reach.

Syon Abbey was the only Bridgettine house in England and the foundation stone was laid by Henry V in 1415.

Sky TV have their studios in Isleworth, which was recently renamed The Keith Rupert Murdoch Building in late 2018.

Hounslow is one of the worst Boroughs for bus punctuality, only 3.6% of its buses are said to run on time, leading to the West London Borough having two out of 10 of the most late running bus routes. The British education funding crisis has meant that one Isleworth primary school has been forced to consider reducing their school teaching hours.

Oaknorth property financier has completed a £16.7m loan to Westcombe Group for the development of a number of residential properties in Isleworth and Northwood. The Saracen House scheme in Isleworth, has been completed and the existing property has been converted into 12 one-bedroom units and five two-bedroom units suitable for the downsizer and first-time buyer market. The development also comprises multiple office suites within a purpose-built office building over ground and two upper storeys. By 2035, the Hounslow strategic plan states that the Borough will solidify itself as a business location making use of its proximity to Heathrow, the M4, London and the Thames Valley.
