DP17: Publicly accessible open space
Maximising access to existing open space
- In order to maximise access to existing publicly accessible open space, new developments will be required to:
- provide new or improved access to adjacent or nearby publicly accessible open space, where appropriate;
- not block or hinder existing public access, unless suitable alternative access is provided; and
- promote publicly accessible open spaces as multi-functional spaces that cater for a range of activities, lifestyles, ages and needs.
Provision of new open space or new access to existing open space
- New open space provided as part of a development or existing open space that a new development can provide new or enhanced access to, should be inclusive and highly accessible to residents of the development and surrounding areas.
