Development proposals will be expected to avoid harm to, sustain and, where possible, enhance heritage assets and their settings. All development proposals affecting the significance of heritage assets including their settings must exhibit sympathetic design in terms of siting, mass, scale and use of materials.

The impact of development proposals on the significance of heritage assets and their settings will be considered in accordance with case law, legislation and national policy.
