LP 52: Advertisements and Shop Fronts.
Advertisements will be permitted where they have no unacceptable impact, taking account of cumulative impacts, on:
- public safety, including highway safety; and;
- amenity, including visual amenity, the amenity of neighbouring sites; and;
- the significance of the historic environment.
New or altered shop fronts will be permitted where:
- alterations/lighting have regard to the character, materials, design, scale and proportion of the building;
- important architectural or historic features on the existing building are restored and/or retained and not concealed;
- an active frontage is maintained; and,
- security measures are well designed and integrated with the frontage. There will be a presumption against visually intrusive measures, such as external roller shutters.
