LPP 54: Demolition in Conservation Areas.

Demolition of an unlisted building or structure in a Conservation Area will only be granted in the most exceptional circumstances, where all the following criteria are fully satisfied:

  • Its removal would not have a negative or neutral impact on the street-scene;
  • The structure to be demolished makes a negative or neutral contribution to the character or appearance of the Conservation Area;
  • Its removal would be beneficial to the local environment or infrastructure;
  • A detailed redevelopment scheme is included and approved as part of the demolition proposal which would preserve or enhance the character or appearance of the area.
