Policy 98 Restaurants, Pubs & Hot Food Takeaways

The Council will permit proposals for a new restaurant, café, drinking establishment and/or hot food takeaway where all of the following criteria are met:

  • the proposal would not detract from the vitality and viability of the Town or Shopping Centre,
  • the proposal would not result in an over concentration of food and drink establishments,
  • there is no harm or loss of amenity to nearby residents through noise, disturbance, smells, fumes, litter and unneighbourly opening hours, and
  • the proposal would not create undue traffic congestion as a result of the change of use.
