HE1: General Strategy for the Historic Environment
- The Council will seek to ensure that development not only avoids harm, but also improves the setting of Broxbourne’s historic environment, and better reveals the significance of heritage assets.
- To achieve this, the Council will:
- carry out a borough-wide characterisation study;
- investigate the use of Article 4 Directions in conservation areas;
- improve signage relating to heritage assets, and
- seek to increase public access to the historic environment and heritage assets where-ever possible.
- prepare or update Conservation Area Character Appraisals; and
- review the potential for new Conservation Areas.
- Development proposals must have regard to the Broxbourne Historic Environment Strategy Supplementary Planning Document, once adopted.
