INF12: Educational Facilities
Residential development which generates need for educational facilities must make appropriate provision for such facilities either on-site, or by making a contribution towards new facilities or the improvement or expansion of the relevant existing facilities.
Proposals for the creation of new, altered or extended educational facilities should:
- Be served by a choice of sustainable travel and transport options, including walking and cycling; and
- Encourage alternative means of transport other than the car, through the provision of on-site supporting facilities; and
- Be of the highest quality of design which offers flexible use of facilities, while also providing potential for the wider needs of the community to be met on the site; and
- Provide or retain outdoor recreation space and playing fields.
Day nurseries, and childcare facilities for more than 6 children under the age of 8, should be located within designated centres and existing community buildings, wherever possible.
