ORC2: Loss of Open Space, Leisure, Sport and Recreational Facilities
Open spaces, sport, recreational and leisure facilities, including playing fields, allotments and children’s play areas, including but not limited to open spaces listed in Appendix A, will be protected from development.
Exceptions to this will be considered if they meet the following criteria:
- an assessment has been undertaken, which clearly shows the open space, facility, buildings or land to be surplus to requirements; and
- the development is for alternative sports and recreational provision, the needs for which clearly outweigh the loss; or
- the loss resulting from the proposed development would be replaced by equivalent or better provision in terms of quantity and quality in a suitable location.
