W3: Water Efficiency

All major developments must minimise the use of mains water by:

  • Incorporating water saving measures and equipment;
  • Incorporating the recycling of grey water and utilising natural filtration measures where-ever possible; and
  • Designing residential development so that mains water consumption would meet a target of 110 litres or less per person per day.

Commercial and retail buildings will need to demonstrate the BREEAM excellent standard (or equivalent successor rating) linked to efficient use of water.

Proposals to retro-fit existing development with water efficiency measures will be supported.
