EA1: Highgate Village Core
Within the Village Core and where the Boroughs have designated shopping frontages (see fig 5 and table 1), the presumption will be to protect A1 uses. The non-A class use of ground floor units will be permitted where:
- The overall number of units in non-A1 use (including extant planning permissions) will not exceed 50% across the Village Core, unless it can be demonstrated the proposal will significantly enhance the vitality and viability of the Village and would not detract from its function as a local shopping area;
- An active frontage is provided, or if this is not possible, a window display or other appropriate town centre frontage;
The Highgate Neighbourhood Forum will continue to work with Haringey and Camden to ensure that the mix of uses in the village is adequately monitored and managed.
