- The Plan supports development that creates accessible, well lit, welcoming public spaces with good environmental qualities.
- Buildings surrounding public spaces can enhance them through thoughtful architectural design. The Plan would support such approaches as:
- framing and enclosing the space to establish scale and definition;
- providing first floor shops to generate vibrancy and pedestrian activity;
- promoting permeability and visual/physical connections between interior and exterior;
- incorporating features that provide environmental comfort, such as shelter and greenery;
- orienting the building to provide natural surveillance and improve safety.
