TC6 Markets
The Council will promote and protect markets in Camden.
We will:
- resist the permanent loss of market uses unless comparable replacement provision is made or there is no demand for continued market use;
- take into account the character of the existing market when assessing proposals for the refurbishment and redevelopment of markets;
- support new markets that will not cause individual or cumulative harm to the local area
When assessing planning applications for new markets, the Council will consider:
- their effect on local residents and environmental conditions;
- their impact on transport and pedestrian movement, including the effect on access and circulation, highways, parking and servicing;
- their effect on local centres and shopping provision;
- the storage and disposal of litter and refuse;
- community safety and noise; and
- toilet provision.
