CPH1 Local Design Guidance

I. Proposals for residential development should consider Chapter 3 Clifton Character Assessment as a reference guide to ensure new homes are appropriate to their setting in the village. In particular, the following points should be addressed in any proposal:

  • New street scenes should blend as seamlessly as possible with those existing;
  • Sustainable building techniques, zero carbon and renewable energy technology should be sympathetically integrated into new homes; and
  • Landscaping should feature local species and varieties, where they are resilient to climate change. Flowering cherry trees are a particular feature of Clifton and their inclusion in gardens and public areas will be welcomed.

II. Applications for planning permission in the Parish should demonstrate how they have taken into account the Clifton Neighbourhood Plan Design Guide and Codes.”
