RC1: Rural Character

The rural character of the village and its surroundings should be respected through new development by ensuring that

  • the scale and character of new buildings are modest and in keeping with the rural setting,
  • new buildings respect the hilltop position of Upper Gravenhurst and are sympathetic to the contours of the land by ensuring that building heights, roofscapes and massing do not dominate the skyline,
  • boundary treatment and landscaping schemes are carefully designed so as to maintain the rural character of the area.
