TM3: Pedestrians, Pavements and Cyclists
Schemes will be supported in this context (and s106/CIL funding will be sought where appropriate) that:
- Demonstrate that the condition of pavement surfaces throughout the village has been taken into account when making judgements on the sustainability of a new development in the context of pedestrian movement
- Where relevant, improves the suitability of the existing pavements at and in the vicinity of new site entrances. Also, where necessary, increase the width of pavements (with disabled access, child safety and pushchair users as primary considerations)
- Consider the use of permeable surfaces and SUDS so as to prioritise better surface water management in new developments
- Benefit from a dropped kerb to each new dwelling, enabling easier off-street parking along with pavement access by pushchair users and the disabled
- Where possible or relevant, new development schemes incorporate opportunities to grow a Langford cycle network
- Where possible or relevant, development schemes incorporate opportunities to support and promote cycling as an alternative mode of transport.
