NP6: Residential Design
- Proposals for residential development, including redevelopments, will be permitted provided that all of the following criteria are met:
- They contribute positively to the existing character of the village, responding where appropriate to the prevailing size, height, scale and mass, materials, layout, density and access of the surrounding area;
- Innovative proposals will be considered on their own merits;
- They provide adequate off-street parking for residents and visitors. Recreational space and parking areas with no organisation responsible for maintenance and repair, within or alongside development will not be supported;
- Proposals are accompanied by a scheme to provide hard and soft landscaping, including the treatment of all boundaries, appropriate to the development and its setting;
- They are well connected to the local pedestrian network linking to local amenities and the wider countryside;
- They provide adequate storage for bins and recycling, incorporated into the scheme to minimise visual impact; and
- They do not result in any loss of amenity for neighbouring houses through the loss of privacy, loss of light or visual intrusion
- Designs that incorporate the use of sustainable energy will be supported providing the above criteria are met
