Housing Policy 1. Rural Exception Sites in the Parish

Rural exception sites in the Parish which provide affordable housing in perpetuity will be supported subject to all of the following criteria being met:

  • Evidence is provided to show the proposal provides an affordable housing tenure, size and mix consistent with the most up-to-date evidence of the Parish’s affordable housing need.
  • All of the affordable housing in the proposed scheme is for people who can demonstrate a strong local connection to the Chalfont St Giles Parish. Where there is an up-to-date evidence need, the proposal provides units suitable for senior residents.
  • No development that would result in an adverse effect on the Hodgemoor Wood Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) will be permitted.
  • Any proposal for development within the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) or the setting of the AONB must conserve and enhance the special landscape character, heritage, and distinctiveness of the AONB.
