CS6: Selected Small Villages in the Green Belt

Within Chipperfield, Flamstead, Potten End and Wigginton the following will be permitted:

  • the replacement of existing buildings;
  • limited infilling with affordable housing for local people;
  • conversion of houses into flats;
  • house extensions;
  • development for uses closely related to agriculture, forestry and open air recreation, which cannot reasonably be accommodated elsewhere; and
  • local facilities to meet the needs of the village.

Each development must:

  • be sympathetic to its surroundings, including the adjoining countryside, in terms of local character, design, scale, landscaping and visual impact; and
  • retain and protect features essential to the character and appearance of the village.
