CS 8: Economic Change
The Council will seek a transformation of the economy by focusing on key growth sectors, in particular:
- Office uses including financial and business services; government, and ICT related activity
- High technology, specialist manufacturing and engineering (advanced manufacturing)
- Logistics, transport and distribution
- Environmental technologies
- Creative industries, hospitality and leisure
- Built environment and construction
The Council will work with developers, partners and Locate in Kent to deliver proposals for these uses on appropriate sites and identify end users.
In the case of Ebbsfleet, the Council will work with partners to encourage the relocation of government offices from Central London.
The development of a knowledge-based economy will be promoted by the Council through:
- The implementation of the Science Park at the Bridge
- Exploring the potential of an environmental technology park on the Swanscombe Peninsula.
- Continuing to focus on research and development in the sustainable technologies field.
