DM19 Sustainable Water Use

  • Development will need to demonstrate that:
    1. water saving measures and equipment will be incorporated in all new development;
    2. new homes (including replacement dwellings) meet a water efficiency standard of 110 litres or less per person per day; and
    3. new non-residential development of 1,000 square metres gross floor area or more aims to achieve at least a 30% improvement over baseline building consumption.
  • The standards set out in Part A(ii) and (iii) will apply unless, in exceptional circumstances, it can be clearly demonstrated that it would not be feasible on technical or viability grounds.
  • Where new national standards exceed those set out in Part A, the new national standards will take precedence.
