HC13 Change of Use of Listed Buildings
The adaptation or conversion of a listed building to a new use may be permitted where:
- this can be shown to be the only way to retain the special architectural or historic interest of the building; and
- any proposed alterations respect and conserve the internal and external characteristics of the building and do not diminish its special architectural or historic interest; and
- the immediate and wider landscape settings of the building are respected.
Substantial reconstructions or extensions, and sub-divisions into more than one unit will not be permitted. Conditions may be imposed to control land use or development rights associated with the converted building.
