RST14 Playing Fields

The Council will not grant planning permission for development which involves the loss of any playing fields unless:

  • adequate alternative provision of equivalent community benefit is made available in an appropriate location; or
  • there is an excess of sports pitch provision and public open space in the locality; or
  • sport and recreational facilities can best be retained and enhanced through the redevelopment of a small part of the site;

and the open nature of the site does not contribute significantly to its surroundings. Any development will also need to be in accordance with policy LL6.
