RST15 Facilities in rural settlements
In determining planning applications for sports and recreational facilities in or immediately adjacent to rural settlements, the Council will need to satisfy itself that:
- the number and location of existing facilities within the settlement or in nearby settlements do not negate the demand locally; and
- there are no existing buildings available which would be suitable for conversion to accommodate the proposed uses.
In circumstances where the Council is so satisfied, it will then have regard to:
- the effect upon the character and appearance of both the settlement and the countryside; and
- the total user potential of the facilities in relation to the size of the settlement.
