RST8 Play Areas
The Council will:
- protect existing play areas from built development;
- only permit developments resulting in a loss of play areas where:
- the developer will provide appropriate replacement facilities in the immediate vicinity, or, where this is impracticable;
- the developer will contribute towards the upgrading or maintenance costs of existing facilities;
- seek to ensure the provision of new play areas and equipment in or close to Loughton town centre;
- require residential developments on large sites to incorporate play areas of an appropriate size and location on the basis of:
- any existing shortfall in the locality; and
- any need generated by the development; and
- require that all new play areas:
- are suitably equipped;
- incorporate safety surfaces;
- are maintained in a safe condition; and
- are surrounded by dog-proof fencing and gates.
