U5 Masts and aerials under 15m

Prior approval for the siting and appearance of new masts under 15m tall will be required within conservation areas, or where they may affect the setting of listed buildings, or in other locations where there is likely to be a significant impact on amenity. Factors to be taken into account include:

  • topographical features, including the height of the site in relation to surrounding land;
  • views of the site from adjoining land, both within and outside the district, with particular reference to the effect on the skyline or horizon;
  • impact on, and possible screening by, existing vegetation;
  • proximity to residential property;
  • other masts, buildings or structures in the locality; and
  • rominence from public rights of way used for recreational purposes (e.g. footpaths, bridleways and towpaths).
