DM 36 Sustainable Transport for New Development

In order to secure sustainable transport patterns and usage across the Borough we will:

  1. require all major new development, including new homes, commercial and community uses to develop and implement a proportionate, robust and effective Travel Plan in accordance with Surrey County Council’s adopted Travel Plan Good Practice Guide;
  2. prioritise the access needs of pedestrians and cyclists in the design of new developments, protect and enhance pedestrian and cycle access routes to, and where possible, through development sites, including the protection or enhancement of the strategic cycling and walking networks; and
  3. require new development to provide on-site facilities for cyclists as appropriate, including showers, lockers and secure, convenient cycle parking, in accordance with standards.
