CS17: Provision of Traveller Sites
5.13.11 The Council will seek to meet the housing needs of Travellers in the Borough by:
- Safeguarding traveller sites with permanent planning permission for their current use unless it can be demonstrated that they are no longer needed to meet identified need;
- Investigating opportunities to extend existing permanent sites within the urban area; and
- Supporting new sites within the urban area and rural settlements inset from the Green Belt which accord with policies in this plan, in particular those relating to Development and Design Principles, Climate Change, Green Infrastructure, and Heritage and the Historic Environment.
