ENP-LE2: Effingham’s Rural Economy

Development schemes that support the growth of Effingham’s rural economy and are in accordance with national Green Belt policy will be supported. In particular:

  • the sustainable growth and expansion of all types of business and enterprise in Effingham village will be supported, through conversion of existing buildings where appropriate and provision of well-designed new buildings of appropriate scale; and
  • the development and diversification of agricultural and other land-based rural businesses will be supported; and
  • the retention and development of local services and community facilities in our village, such as local shops, meeting places, sports venues, cultural buildings, public houses and places of worship, which respect the character of the countryside, will be supported.

All proposals should respect the character and appearance of the settlement, its landscape setting and the Effingham Conservation Area as set out in Policy ENP-G2, and be respectful of residential amenity.
