LNPEN4: Light Pollution
Artificial lighting on new developments must take account of the ecological impact on the rural countryside in Lovelace and employ mitigation measures to limit visible light in intrinsically dark areas of countryside. All new developments in Lovelace must conform with the Dark Skies Principles below unless it is demonstrated to be necessary and appropriate to depart from these principles.
- The lighting levels and type must be in character with the area and the surrounding environment.
- The development’s external lighting, including type of light source, level of lighting and duration of lit period must not significantly harm wildlife.
- Lighting must not have an adverse impact on the TBHSPA.
- “Part-Night Lighting” should be employed to mitigate the impact on wildlife unless this can be demonstrated to have an impact on personal safety.
