P-BE5 - Listed Buildings
Development proposals should have special regard to the preservation of the parish’s Listed Buildings.
Development proposals that cause harm to the significance of a Listed Building (including their original structure, layout, architectural features, materials and historic landscape setting, including trees) should require clear and convincing justification and will only be permitted where the public benefits of the scheme demonstrably outweigh the harm identified.
Development proposals that seek to sympathetically repair and restore Listed Buildings (including the removal of unsympathetic non-original features and the reinstatement of historically appropriate features) and which bring Listed Buildings back into viable use will be supported.
Proposals affecting Listed Buildings (including their setting) should be supported by information which identifies the significance of the heritage asset and demonstrates how points (1) and (2) above have been met.
