P-RP1 - Existing Community Facilities
Development proposals that result in the loss of community facilities, including public open space, sports and recreational facilities and land (including playing fields) will not be permitted unless one or more of the following applies:
- an assessment has been undertaken which clearly demonstrates that the existing facility and associated land is surplus to requirements and that all efforts have been made to retain the current use or attract similar uses.
- the existing provision would be replaced by equivalent or better provision in terms of quantity, quality and location; or
- the development is for alternative sports and recreational provision, the needs for which clearly outweigh the loss.
