LP2 Development and Amenity

  • All new development must be appropriate to its location and should be designed to ensure there are no significant adverse impacts on the amenity of occupiers and neighbours. The individual and cumulative impacts of development proposals on amenity will be considered in assessing their acceptability. Consideration of the merits of development proposals will be balanced against the impact on amenity.
  • Amenity considerations include the impact of development on:
    1. Visual privacy and overlooking;
    2. Overshadowing and outlook;
    3. Sunlight and daylight, and artificial light, levels;
    4. Vibration, noise, fumes and odour, and other forms of pollution;
    5. Microclimate conditions;
    6. Safety of highway users
