LP38 Evening and Night Time Economy

New evening and night-time economy uses will be primarily located in the Borough’s designated centres. The use should be of a size and type that reflects the role and function of the centre including the CAZ.

Proposals for uses that would result in the diversification of the evening and night time economy will be supported. Only limited expansion of licensed premises will be permitted in Shoreditch and Dalston.

Proposals for evening and night time economy uses will be permitted if both of the following criteria are met:

  1. There is no negative impact on the amenity of adjoining or adjacent residential accommodation and non-residential uses, such as through noise disturbance, cooking smells, anti-social behaviour, and highway safety; and
  2. There are no negative cumulative impacts resulting from the proposed use in relation to the number, capacity and location of other night-time economy uses in the area.
