LP44 Public Transport and Infrastructure

All development must:

  • Protect existing and proposed transport infrastructure, particularly routes for walking, cycling and public transport, from removal or severance which could compromise their use or operation. Proposals which are contrary to the safeguarding of strategic infrastructure improvement projects, including Crossrail 2 will be refused.

In addition new major development must:

  • Contribute towards improvements to the bus network and associated infrastructure including new bus services, bus priority measures and frequency upgrades.
  • Contribute to improving rail infrastructure at local stations including travel interchange facilities and step free access.
  • Support sustainable transport initiatives such as cycle hire facilities, electric vehicle charging infrastructure and pocket parks. On-Street car club development will be supported when delivered in conjunction with an overall reduction in car parking or other effective demand management measures.
  • Contribute to public realm improvements which improve access to public transport facilities by promoting walking and cycling.
