Strategic Principles
Where appropriate development should:
- Improve the unique mix of warehouse units that are key to the thriving creative economy of Hackney Wick.
- Preserve and deliver new affordable workspace and affordable housing in perpetuity.
- Improve connections east to the rest of Hackney.
- Improve the access roads into Hackney Wick from the west.
- Maintain the heritage and character of buildings.
- Maintain the functionally important buildings which provide low-cost workspace and resist their conversion to other uses.
- Improve connections to Stratford and the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
- Create a new ‘high street’ of commercial uses to support Hackney Wick’s residential and working population.
- Improve connections south to the Canal and Fish Island.
