DM 24: Housing Mix

Proposals that secure an appropriate mix of housing on site and which contribute to the creation of inclusive and mixed communities will be supported. The appropriate mix of housing will be determined having regard to:

  • the target mix for affordable housing, set out in the Council’s Planning Obligations supplementary planning document;
  • the priority to be afforded to the delivery of affordable family housing; and
  • the location of the site, the character of its surroundings and the need to optimise housing output on previously-developed land.

Proposals that would fail to achieve an appropriate housing mix, or which would fail to contribute to the creation of inclusive and mixed communities, will be refused.
