DM 40: Mixed-Use Development in Town Centres

Proposals for mixed use development in town centres will be supported. The appropriate mix of uses will be considered having regard to:

  • the role and function of the centre;
  • the need to make efficient and effective use of previously-developed land;
  • the need to re-provide certain uses on the site in accordance with other policies;
  • the compatibility of the uses proposed; and e. any other planning objectives considered to be a priority for the area.

Proposals that would compromise any component of this policy, or would be detrimental to the vitality and viability of town centres, will be refused.
