11: General Criteria for Assessing Waste Planning Applications
Planning applications for proposals for waste management facilities will be granted provided that:
- the siting, scale and design of the development is appropriate to the location and the character of the surrounding natural and built environment;
- the landscaping and screening of the site is designed to effectively mitigate the impact of the proposal;
- the proposed operation of the site would not adversely impact upon amenity and human health;
- the proposed development would not adversely impact upon wildlife habitats, the natural, built or historic environments;
- the proposed operation of the site would not adversely impact upon wildlife habitats, the natural, built or historic environments;
- adequate provision is made for the restoration, aftercare and management of the site to an agreed after-use;
- applications for hazardous waste facilities should satisfactorily address issues of safety and risks to human health wildlife habitats, the natural, built and historic environment;
- proposals on greenfield sites can demonstrate that no better suitable Previously Developed Land is available;
- there would not be an unacceptable adverse cumulative impact on the local area; and
- it is not in conflict with other policies in this document
