EWC5: Transport and Accessibility
Development should improve connectivity into and out of the area. Development proposals must not prejudice the outlined transport and movement improvements.
The Council, Highways Authority, developers and other partners will work in partnership to foster an attractive, safer and more legible environment for pedestrians, cyclists, public transport users and vehicles. All development should:
- Work in accordance with the Hertfordshire Local Transport Plan and Elstree and Borehamwood Urban Transport Plan.
- Improve pedestrian connections and minimise the risk of conflicts between various road users.
- Contribute towards the funding of the highway improvements set out in paragraph 5.2.
- Implement and establish safe pedestrian and cycle crossings
- Implement improvements to the cycle network along the corridor linking to the Borough Greenway network, including new/enhanced signage, and improved public cycle storage and racks. Cycle parking will be required in all residential developments.
