DMHB 20: Moorings
Planning applications for the establishment of moorings will be assessed in relation to the following criteria:
- moorings should generally be located on urban stretches of the canal and not on rural or open stretches where they would be incongruous and out of keeping;
- Moorings and associated development and servicing should be located so they do not impede other canal and waterside uses, paths or access to the waterway;
- The number and density of moorings in any one location should be appropriate to their location on the waterway and should not separate people from the waterway or interfere with navigation;
- provision for service vehicles and car parking must be made in a form which will not adversely affect the amenity of the canal;
- Adequate servicing, including provisions for appropriate utility connections, must be provided; and
- Development should take account of guidance contained in the relevant publications from the Canal & River Trust.
