DMIN 1: Preferred Areas of Mineral Extraction and Aggregates Railheads
The following specific site, preferred areas and areas of search will be protected for the extraction of sand and gravel reserves:
- Land west of Harmondsworth Quarry (Preferred Area)
- Land north of Harmondsworth (Preferred Area)
- Land at Sipson Lane east of the M4 Spur (Specific Site)
- Bedfont Court Estate (Area of Search)
Where sand and gravel reserves are identified, the Council will, in addition to the above, safeguard those resources from sterilisation by surface development. The identification of such reserves will, in itself, create no presumption that proposals for mineral extraction will be acceptable.
The Council will safeguard the existing railheads at Hayes, West Drayton, West Drayton Tavistock Road and West Ruislip from alternative use. Applications for alternative uses will need to demonstrate that there is no real prospect of a transport use continuing or being reintroduced on the site. Proposals for new railhead capacity will be supported.
