DM4.2 Entertainment and the night-time economy
Entertainment and night-time activities are generally appropriate in Town Centres where:
- they are compatible with other main Town Centre uses;
- there would not be a significant adverse effect on amenity, particularly residential amenity; and
- there is not an over-concentration of similar types of use, as assessed in relation to Policy DM4.3.
Entertainment and night-time activities are generally inappropriate outside Town Centres*. Where proposed outside Town Centres, applicants will need to demonstrate that such uses will not result in adverse impacts, including cumulative impacts, as assessed in relation to Policy DM4.3, and are consistent with other policies relating to development outside Town Centres.
An exception applies to the area covered by the Finsbury Local Plan (Area Action Plan for Bunhill and Clerkenwell). Refer to Policy BC8 of the Finsbury Local Plan for more details.
