ST1 Infrastructure Planning and Smarter City Approach

  • The Council will identify and deliver the infrastructure required to support development growth over the plan period and enable effective delivery of the Local Plan objectives, through:
    1. utilising an Infrastructure Delivery Plan and working with relevant providers to ensure necessary infrastructure is provided; and
    2. requiring contributions from development to ensure that the infrastructure needs associated with development will be provided for, and to mitigate the impact of development.
  • The Council will utilise its planning function to put in place measures to develop the Smart Cities approach in Islington, by:
    1. working with infrastructure providers to ensure world-class connectivity and ensuring developers provide in-building infrastructure capable of significantly exceeding minimum building control standards;
    2. considering use and interoperability of data, and digital innovation as part of the planning application process; and
    3. considering how the Council can promote use of technology to help people to live better lives.
