N1: New Development
To ensure that new development complements or enhances the existing character and takes account of the context of the street scene, it must:
- closely reflect the existing rhythm, proportion, height, scale, massing, materials and storey heights both for the the grand compositions and other terraces of visual quality;
- in the lesser terraces and mews follow a strong contextual approach to ensure that it complements and enhances the existing character and context of the street scene;
- in the case of eccentric buildings ensure that the specific context of the site and the wider character of street scene are fully taken into account relation to scale, design and materials.
