Q8 Design quality: construction detailing

  • When negotiating schemes the council will seek to ensure that proposed building designs and submitted details are buildable and visually attractive. Poorly-detailed and undeliverable built forms will be resisted.
  • When considering the details of proposals the council will:
    • resist ‘value engineering’ approaches which dilute the design quality and integrity of approved schemes; and
    • seek construction detailing that is unified, visually attractive, robust and maintenance free.
