G1 Promoting Sustainable Development
The scale and type of development in the Honor Oak Park and Crofton Park Neighbourhood Plan area will respect the residential character of the area and provide living and working environments of good quality, supported by a network of local services and facilities. New development will be required to:
- protect and enhance existing assets;
- protect and enhance the character of the built and natural heritage of the area;
- protect and enhance open spaces and contribute to the greening of the Neighbourhood Area;
- ensure the retention and protection of shopping areas and smaller local parades that contribute to local dayto-day retail needs and employment;
- support the retention of locally significant employment, including maintaining a Local Employment Location (LEL) at Malham Road;
- seek to improve the walking and cycling environment to improve access to local services and public transport provision; vii. where possible contribute to the regeneration of the southern end of the Neighbourhood Plan area.
