LTC20 Public and shopper parking spaces

Existing public and shopper parking is to be retained where appropriate and further provision to meet the needs of the growing retail sector in the town centre will be sought to maintain the current ratio of parking spaces to retail floorspace.

The development of the following Policy Areas and sites are expected to involve a significant amount of new retail floorspace and all existing and any new associated parking spaces should be publicly accessible:

  • Conington Road Policy Area,
  • Loampit Vale Policy Area,
  • Ladywell Leisure Centre (Site S8).

All new developments are required to comply with the London Plan regarding the provision of electric charging points. Further, all accessible points must meet the Source London criteria so that they can become part of the London-wide network.

All car parks should prioritise disabled drivers and those with children.
