LP51 Tree Management and Landscaping

All development proposals must retain trees of amenity value, especially veteran trees, and hedgerows and natural features, and must incorporate high quality landscaping.

Proposals resulting in the removal of protected trees (trees under a Tree Preservation Order (TPO) and those within Conservation Areas) or having a detrimental impact on the health and amenity of such trees will be refused except where overriding ecological benefits and/or wider planning benefits are demonstrated. In such cases, compensatory measures will be required for suitable replacements and/or additional planting, or contributions to planting offsite. The removal of non-protected trees as part of development schemes will not be supported unless adequate replacement planting is proposed, or the removal is in the interests of good arboricultural practice.
